JAMB Registrar Praises ‘Superb’ UTME Conduct, Warns Against Exam Fraud
Prof Ishaq Oloyede, Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, described the ongoing UTME exercise as largely successful. He noted that only 16 of about 980 centres nationwide faced minor issues like power supply or technical faults. Speaking at a CBT centre in Ibadan, he said over 1.7 million candidates sat the exam in three days. He commended the smooth collaboration of vice-chancellors, rectors and other academic officials serving as proctors. Oloyede cautioned against unverified reports of candidate kidnappings linked to JAMB. He stressed the focus should be on ensuring safe returns rather than spreading misinformation and clarified that exams begin at 8:30 a.m. after accreditation. He also warned parents and candidates to steer clear of fraudsters promising “exam runs” or score upgrades. JAMB has intensified efforts to track and prosecute such individuals to maintain the integrity of the examination process.
