Leaked Files: Iran Used Chinese Surveillance Satellite to Track US Bases

Leaked military documents reveal that Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps bought a Chinese-built surveillance satellite in late 2024. The TEE-01B was deployed to monitor US military sites in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Bahrain and Iraq. Imagery, coordinate stamps and orbital data reportedly guided missile and drone strikes before and after the attacks. As part of the deal, Iran also gained access to a Beijing-based ground station network operated by a commercial provider for satellite control and data services.

Given the leak, states should review their base security protocols and consider counter-surveillance measures against satellite monitoring.
