Turaki’s ‘Orphans’ Stranded by Jonathan’s Absence and Makinde’s Defection
The Turaki-led team spent months building a presidential campaign around former President Goodluck Jonathan. They held meetings, organized screenings and secured waivers in hopeful anticipation of his entry. Jonathan remained largely absent. He failed to drive the campaign or turn up to submit his nomination form, leaving organizers and supporters waiting in vain. Then Governor Seyi Makinde accepted the APM ticket, abandoning the very platform he helped build. This sudden shift casts doubt on political loyalty and sincerity. With their candidate distant and their sponsor gone, Turaki’s supporters now find themselves stranded between speculation and political convenience.
