Judge Dismisses Will Smith’s Sexual Harassment and Wrongful Termination Suit
A California judge has tossed out a sexual harassment and wrongful termination lawsuit filed against Will Smith and his company. The plaintiff, violinist Brian King Joseph, alleged harassment during the actor’s 2025 tour and claimed he was fired after reporting an unsettling hotel incident. Joseph said someone entered his hotel room in Las Vegas and left wipes, beer bottles and HIV medication alongside a handwritten note. He argued this created an inappropriate work environment. But the court found the allegations were “not sufficiently severe or pervasive” under California law and highlighted gaps in the evidence. Joseph also claimed he lost his job for speaking up, but the judge ruled there wasn’t enough proof linking his dismissal to the complaint. Both the harassment and wrongful termination claims were dismissed in the May 5, 2026 ruling.
