Lady Exposes ₦1.7m Scam Plot by Man She Met at Abuja Influencer Event
A Nigerian lady says she met a man at an influencer event in Abuja who had been following her on social media. They hit it off and went on a brunch date, but he claimed he couldn’t pay and she covered the bill. After the date, he stopped at a POS agent to refund her, a move she later saw as a trust-building tactic. Things turned stranger when she travelled to Delta State and he began bragging about buying a private jet and gifting her expensive items. Her alarm bells rang when a woman posing as an Access Bank manager called to say the man had listed her as his next of kin. He then asked to borrow ₦1.7 million. Realising it was a coordinated scam involving the man, his mother and the impostor, she blocked him immediately. The incident has since trended online, fuelling concern over a rising wave of relationship and financial scams.
