Fuel Dependency: Nigeria Spent £1.1bn on UK Refined Oil in 2025

Total UK exports to Nigeria reached £1.8 billion, with other exports like cleaning products and machinery trailing far behind. Combined trade in goods and services between both countries hit £7.6 billion, up 10.8% year-on-year. Nigeria ran a £3.3 billion trade deficit, though services accounted for the larger export share. The report notes efforts to boost local refining capacity through new and renovated refineries, aimed at cutting fuel import bills.
