FCT Court Orders Police to Unseal Disputed Lekki Property
The Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama has directed the Nigeria Police to unseal a property on Lekki Peninsula. Justice Othman Musa ordered the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 2 Lagos, to lift the seal imposed under an ex parte order from December 2025. The sealed premises house several businesses, including Angelos Café, Zevis Pharmaceuticals, EOD PFM Ltd and Lord of Hosts Miracle Church. The order had halted all activities and barred anyone from accessing the site pending the hearing of the main suit. The dispute arose when Mr. Henry Ugonna Orabuchi filed a fundamental rights suit against the Nigeria Police Force and others. He claimed the sealing order infringed his rights and sought to protect a separate 3,000 sqm reclaimed land behind the property from a police invitation tied to a civil contract dispute. In his judgment, Justice Musa held that the interim sealing order has now spent its force. He declared that the police cannot investigate or detain the applicant over the civil contract. The court expressly set aside the ex parte order and directed the immediate unsealing of the Lekki property.
