Edo Police Nab TikToker for Spreading Fake Student Kidnap Alerts

Edo Police Nab TikToker for Spreading Fake Student Kidnap Alerts

Edo State Police have arrested popular TikToker Uzebor Emmanuel, known online as “Aza Woman,” for allegedly fabricating a mass student abduction in Benin City. He claimed that pupils from Green Park Academy and Western Boys College were kidnapped on June 3. Police investigations found he knowingly shared false reports, including ransom demands and daring escapes, across social media. The command’s spokesperson said the unfounded posts stirred panic, heightened anxiety, and undermined confidence in Edo’s security architecture. Emmanuel remains in custody and will be charged when the inquiry is complete. Officials urged everyone to verify information with credible sources before sharing online and to avoid spreading falsehoods that threaten public peace.
