NIMENA Calls for Papers on Blue Economy and Marine Engineering Research

The Nigerian Institute of Marine Engineers and Naval Architects has invited researchers, academics and industry professionals to submit papers to two peer-reviewed, open-access maritime journals: the Journal of Blue Economy and Sustainable Energy Development and the African Journal of Offshore, Marine Engineering and Naval Architecture. The first journal seeks work on blue-economy governance, offshore renewable energy, fisheries, aquaculture and marine environmental protection. The second focuses on ship design, offshore engineering, marine propulsion, decarbonisation, shipping logistics, safety and smart ships. An article processing charge of $500 applies, but NIMENA says it will fully sponsor the first 20 papers that meet its quality requirements. Eligible papers will be assessed for scientific validity, technical soundness, originality, collaboration, impact and research integrity, with a minimum score of 80 percent required.

Open access is welcome, but the value will also depend on how clearly the journals communicate their review standards and submission expectations.
