UniCross ASUU to Meet Government Amid 45-Day Strike Standoff

UniCross ASUU to Meet Government Amid 45-Day Strike Standoff

The University of Cross River ASUU chapter will meet with the Cross River state government over its strike that began on May 19. Union chairman Dr Patrick Ushie said the government’s technical committee invited them for talks and asked for documents on their grievances. These papers were submitted on Tuesday. Ushie assured members the strike will continue until their demands are met. He noted management cited a N300 million subvention and said an extra N200 million is needed to implement the agreement. The union wrote to the governor but has yet to receive a response. Dialogue with university management broke down over funding issues.

Perhaps both sides should agree on a clear timeline for document review and follow-up meetings to avoid further delays.
