Symmex Demonstrates Nigeria’s First Indigenous GMP-Compliant Manufacturing System to NAFDAC

Symmex Demonstrates Nigeria’s First Indigenous GMP-Compliant Manufacturing System to NAFDAC

Symmex Smart Workings presented Huraflow-MES at NAFDAC’s Lagos office. This marks Nigeria’s first locally developed, Good Manufacturing Practice-compliant Manufacturing Execution System. The platform digitises batch production processes across pharmaceuticals, FMCG and food and beverages, enabling real-time data capture and regulatory compliance. Founder Olumide Awoyemi explained that Huraflow-MES replaces manual, paper-based operations. Key factory activities—tracing raw materials, tracking personnel and production steps—are now automated, cutting batch traceability from days to hours. NAFDAC is formally reviewing the system under a proposed bilateral programme to establish a digital regulatory framework for pharmaceutical manufacturing. The move could help regulators monitor compliance remotely and strengthen Nigeria’s manufacturing ecosystem.

Sure it's promising, but can a single local system overcome regulatory hurdles and resource constraints alone?

It's the first locally developed MES for GMP compliance, yet the success will depend on robust user training and reliable technical support frameworks.

I dey wonder if this local MES fit really meet global GMP requirements or if we dey overhype something wey still needs more test runs.

Companies could pilot Huraflow-MES in a single production line first, gather user feedback, then gradually expand its deployment across multiple plants.
