1 / 5

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations arrested a woman linked to a gang that drugs and robs unsuspecting revellers. The arrest followed an intelligence-led operation after a victim reported dizziness and later discovered valuables worth more than Ksh 200,000 missing. Officers traced the suspect, Jane Wangare Ndungu, to Havilla Apartments in Ruiru and seized 40 mobile phones, 14 laptops and an iPad. Preliminary investigations show the syndicate uses a substance called “mchele” to incapacitate victims and extract sensitive information. The suspect is now held at Embakasi Police Station as detectives work to dismantle the wider network. The DCI urges the public to stay vigilant in social settings and promptly report any suspicious incidents to the nearest police station.
