Over 30 Feared Dead as Boat Capsizes in Ringim, Jigawa State
Rescue teams and local volunteers are combing the waters at Malamawar Yan Dutse in Ringim LGA after a boat carrying more than 30 passengers capsized on Sunday, July 19, 2026. Most of those on board were female farmers and labourers travelling by river when the accident occurred. Officials from the Jigawa State Emergency Management Agency say the cause is still under investigation as they work to confirm how many people have been rescued and how many remain missing. The Ringim Local Government Emergency Management Committee has urged residents to stay calm and await official updates from the authorities.
