ASUU Kano Zone Urges Government to Fully Implement 2025 NRC Agreement

In a press conference at Bayero University, Comrade Abdulkadir Muhammad of ASUU Kano Zone condemned the federal and state governments for failing to uphold the December 2025 agreement on the National Research Council. He stressed that the pact, negotiated over eight years, aimed to integrate research allowances into the consolidated academic salary scale. Yet the Implementation Monitoring Committee has not been formed, and key allowances remain fragmented or ignored. Only a few state universities have adopted the agreement, while federal institutions selectively pay Consolidated Academic Tool Allowances, Earned Academic Allowances, and Professorial Allowances. ASUU Kano Zone warned that this flawed rollout undermines industrial harmony in universities. The zone called on all governments to respect the deal and inaugurate the monitoring committee to ensure full and coordinated implementation.
