Ebola Outbreak Forces India to Postpone India-Africa Forum Summit
India has postponed the Fourth India-Africa Forum Summit, originally set for May 28–31 in New Delhi. The decision follows a worsening Ebola outbreak in parts of Central Africa, notably the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where deaths and suspected cases are rising. In a joint statement, India’s Ministry of External Affairs and the African Union cited public health concerns and the safety of delegates as top priorities. Health screening at Indian airports has been intensified for travellers arriving from affected regions. Global agencies, including the World Health Organization, have escalated surveillance and response efforts to prevent cross-border spread. A new summit date will be announced once the Ebola situation stabilises and safe travel can be ensured.
