In 2025, Lagos recorded the lowest severe poverty rate at just 0.2%. Imo (0.3%) and Anambra (0.5%) followed closely, with other southern states keeping rates under 4%. Overall, the South holds most of the least-affected states. At the other end, Kebbi leads with a 52.7% severe poverty rate, trailed by Jigawa (52.0%) and Sokoto (51.4%). Four northern states top 50%, underscoring stark regional disparities. Data sourced from OPHI’s Global MPI briefing.
