Troops Intercept Massive Ammunition Cache on Kaduna-Jos Highway
Operation Enduring Peace troops intercepted a huge consignment of heavy arms and explosive parts on the Kaduna-Jos highway near Manchok. During a stop-and-search operation close to Boys Science Secondary School, soldiers flagged down an Opel Wagon carrying seven passengers and found a hidden stockpile of ammunition. Officials recovered 569 rounds of 12.7mm anti-aircraft ammunition, several high-velocity warheads and 189 empty 7.62mm shells. Disused GSM handsets, often used in remotely detonated IEDs, were also seized. The driver claimed he received the lethal consignment from an anonymous source and lacked any contact details for the sender or intended recipient. All occupants remain in military custody. The vehicle and its contents are now secured for forensic analysis as investigators work to dismantle the wider network behind this arms shipment.
