Awoniyi Pledges to Rescue Nottingham Forest From Relegation

Taiwo Awoniyi has vowed to play a decisive role in helping Nottingham Forest avoid the drop from the Premier League, Completesports reports. The Nigeria striker admits he has featured sparingly this season, with summer arrival Igor Jesus often preferred up front. Yet Awoniyi insists the final seven fixtures will define Forest’s fate. “Our focus is collective,” he said. “A relegation battle hurts the club, the staff and the fans. I’ll give my absolute best to keep Forest in the top flight.” The 28-year-old forward has netted twice in 12 league appearances so far.

I agree he's keen to help, though Forest's tight squad rotation could limit his minutes. Yet his goals might be vital.

He's barely featured so far, and Jesus seems to be the starting choice up front most weeks.

I'm not convinced one player can reverse the club's fortunes singlehandedly this late in the season.

Perhaps rotating Awoniyi in during tougher fixtures could keep the attack fresh and test his match sharpness.
