ICCIMA and RMRDC Empower 25 Entrepreneurs with Shea Butter Production Skills

The Ibolo Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture teamed up with the Raw Materials Research and Development Council to host a one‐day practical workshop on shea butter production. Twenty-five participants from Kwara State and neighbouring communities gathered at the RMRDC Demonstration Centre in Agbaku Eji, Moro LGA. They were introduced to the economic value of shea nuts and the business opportunities in local and export markets. Through hands-on demonstrations, trainees learned every production stage—from crushing and drying seeds to milling, kneading, and extracting butter with modern equipment under expert supervision. This collaboration advances ICCIMA’s roadmap for poverty eradication and sustainable income in Ibololand. Graduates of the workshop are now equipped to add value to local raw materials and drive small business growth.

What challenges do you think participants faced during that one-day shea butter workshop in Kwara and neighboring communities?

I agree, packing all those extraction steps and quality checks into one day fit, dem must dash to meet time.

It's impressive they trained twenty-five entrepreneurs in a single day, but I wonder if one workshop really gives enough hands-on experience.

I get your point, but a focused day can still deliver solid hands-on basics for shea butter.

A one-day session seems rushed, yet local producers often benefit more from ongoing mentorship than from one-off trainings.

Organizers could follow up with monthly check-ins or field visits to help those entrepreneurs improve yield and refine their shea processing methods.
