CAF Doubles WAFCON Champion Prize to $2 Million for 2026

The Confederation of African Football has announced that the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations winners will receive $2 million in prize money. This marks a 100% increase from the $1 million awarded at the last edition. CAF has also boosted the total prize fund by 67%, from $3.475 million to $5.8 million. Runners-up will now earn $750,000, while the third-place team’s reward has risen by 43%. Each of the 16 participating nations will receive $150,000 in participation funding, up 20% on the previous tournament. Since the current CAF administration took office, the champions’ prize has grown by 900% and the overall fund by nearly 500%. Morocco will host WAFCON 2026 from July 26 to August 16, continuing CAF’s push to expand and develop women’s football across Africa.
