Deschamps Chases History: 'Nothing Beats Being a World Champion'

Deschamps Chases History: 'Nothing Beats Being a World Champion'

France head coach Didier Deschamps says nothing in football compares to winning the FIFA World Cup. He lifted the trophy as a player in 1998 and then guided Les Bleus to victory as coach in 2018. He adds that club honours, even the Champions League, cannot match the magic of world champion status. Deschamps will step down after the 2026 World Cup, but a win this summer could make him the first man to claim the trophy twice as coach. Only three individuals have won as both player and coach so far. Les Bleus are drawn in Group I alongside Senegal, Norway and Iraq as they aim to defend their crown.
