Controversy has erupted in Dekina Local Government Area after allegations that Executive Chairman John Urah Ikani was involved in an extramarital relationship with a married woman, Iyekpe Ife. Community reports say the woman, married to Ife Umoru Agagwu of Ojogba community, has returned to her father’s home in Olubode while the matter is settled. She is alleged to have become pregnant and to have sought to terminate the pregnancy. Some locals now link her health issues to traditional Ibegwu beliefs. Further claims suggest other married women may be involved, but none of these reports have been verified. Attempts to resolve the issue through traditional channels could incur significant costs, and many community members are reluctant to get involved. The chairman has not yet responded to the allegations.
