Chaos of Counting: Nigeria’s Primaries Expose Political Dysfunction
I’m frustrated that political parties can’t even organise their own primaries without descending into bitter disputes and questionable vote tallies. Between the APC’s claim of 10.99 million votes for the incumbent and similar accusations of fraud in the ADC contest, our internal elections have become a national charade. We still struggle to count party members or citizens correctly, turning numbers into tools for manipulation rather than objective measures of support. If our leaders can’t run transparent internal contests, how will they govern a country facing severe economic hardship and security challenges?
