Oshiomhole Accuses Senate President Akpabio of Blocking Probe into ₦210 Trillion NNPCL Audit Queries
Edo lawmaker Adams Oshiomhole renewed claims that Senate President Godswill Akpabio has a personal conflict of interest in shielding the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited from scrutiny. He pointed to ₦210 trillion in audit queries covering 2017–2023 and backed an arrest warrant for former NNPCL boss Mele Kyari, which the Senate later voided. Oshiomhole insisted many senators share his call for accountability despite the Senate’s decision to rebuke his language. He alleged that Kyari gave Akpabio’s daughter a senior role without merit, suggesting this explains the Senate President’s defensive stance. He expanded his criticism to systemic nepotism within NNPCL, accusing past and present leadership of favouring family connections over merit. He vowed to continue pushing for transparency in the ongoing probe.
