Court Forfeits Ex-Electrification Board Chairman’s Private Jet to FG
The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the final forfeiture of a private jet owned by a company linked to former Borno State Rural Electrification Board chairman Abdulsalam Mustapha Kachallah. The ruling follows an EFCC application alleging the aircraft was acquired with proceeds from the Maiduguri Emergency Power Project. Justice Emeka Nwite found that Valiente Jet Limited failed to prove the lawful origin of funds used to buy the jet. The EFCC traced those funds to alleged corrupt contracts worth about $114.1 million under the NNPC-backed power project, accusing Kachallah of using his position to facilitate illicit transactions. Known as “Bom Boy,” Kachallah is an engineer and politician from Borno State, once appointed by Governor Zulum to chair the electrification board. He later joined the APC and contested a federal constituency ticket but lost in the primaries.
