Nigeria Unveils 21-Player Squad for 2026 World Youth Scrabble Championship in Nairobi
The Nigeria Scrabble Federation has named a 21-player team for the 2026 World Youth Scrabble Championship, taking place August 7–9 at the Trademark Hotel in Nairobi. The roster blends proven champions with emerging talents as Nigeria aims to challenge the world’s best young wordsmiths. Leading the squad is 2025 World Best Female Player Sophia Ebube Ekeruche, alongside last year’s runner-up Abdulqodus Aliu. Other key inclusions are Khalid Olosun, the Onazi siblings—Saviour, Salvation and Triumph—and several highly rated youth players. After a rigorous two-day online qualifier, the team will enter a one-week training camp before departing on August 5. A seven-member backroom staff will provide technical and administrative support, with full backing from the National Sports Commission.
