Governor Dikko Umaru Radda announced on Workers’ Day that his administration has released ₦45.89 billion to settle outstanding gratuities and death benefits owed to 14,560 retirees dating back to 2019. He highlighted that workers’ salaries are now paid by the 25th of every month without fail. Beyond gratuities, the state has revised pay for medical doctors, boosted hazard allowances, and recruited over 1,900 health staff across primary and hospital services. More than 3,800 civil servants were promoted last year, while 2,019 officers attended local and international training. Loans were approved for 1,182 workers, and top performers received Peugeot cars and ₦2 million prizes. The governor also detailed interventions in agriculture with subsidised inputs, 400 tractors, and solar irrigation pumps. In education, three smart schools were built and 2,158 teachers hired. A women empowerment scheme has reached 14,450 beneficiaries, and over ₦252 million was disbursed to 1,000 entrepreneurs under the youth “Building Your Future” programme. Labour leaders praised the move but urged stronger workplace safety and social protections.
