Ebonyi CSO Alleges Project Delays, Accountability Gaps Over Lost World Bank Grant
The Ebonyi Civil Society Coalition has urged the state government to focus on project delivery and accountability rather than early political activity ahead of the 2027 elections. The group linked its concerns to Ebonyi State’s reported failure to secure a $27 million World Bank performance-based grant under the HOPE Governance Programme. Its spokesperson, Charles Otu, alleged weaknesses in accountability, procurement and project implementation. Otu cited the 2km road projects planned across 171 communities and the renovation of public schools, claiming that several projects were delayed or poorly executed. He said stronger service delivery and completion of ongoing projects would help the state qualify for future development funding.
