I’ve been dating this girl for five months. She used a basic torch-light phone before, so I promised to get her a smartphone for WhatsApp to save on airtime. I thought it would keep her busy after work and on weekends. On April 2nd, I surprised her with a new Redmi phone. But since then her attitude changed completely. Her WhatsApp status updates now shock me and make me wonder if she ever cared about me. To test her, I called saying I was low on airtime and needed ₦200 to buy data for my bank app. She claimed she had no money. Yet a few hours later, I saw her online buying data for herself. I’ve invested so much in this relationship and I still love her. But it may be time to move on and count my losses.
