Singer Sues Airline, Claims Chicken Skewer Shard Permanently Damaged Her Voice
Former child pop star Briohny Smyth has sued Singapore Airlines, alleging that a wooden shard from a chicken skewer injured her throat during a July 2024 flight to Los Angeles. Smyth claims she suffered immediate pain, coughing and choking before expelling a jagged piece of wood about 1.5 inches long. She says medical examination later found vocal-cord scarring and trauma consistent with a sharp foreign object. The singer and yoga instructor alleges the injury has caused ongoing throat pain, vocal fatigue and difficulty speaking or singing for long periods. She is seeking damages for medical costs, lost earning capacity, emotional distress and legal expenses.
