Is the US Turning Its Navy into State-Sponsored Pirates?
I predicted years ago that the US and UK navies would shift from protecting shipping to seizing vessels. We now see this in Trump’s blockade of Venezuela, Cuba and in the Straits of Hormuz. Iran demands payments in yuan or crypto and a $2 million toll. This challenges the petrodollar and threatens US currency hegemony. China anticipated this shift. Their Belt and Road relies on land routes rather than contested seas. They are building roads, railways and pipelines from Iran through Pakistan into China. If US trade policy becomes overtly aggressive, global south nations may reject American influence. This could shrink US power to the Western Hemisphere and increase pressure from global bankers.
