DR Congo Asks FIFA to Refund World Cup Tickets After Ebola Travel Ban
DR Congo has asked FIFA to refund World Cup tickets after Ebola-related travel restrictions prevented supporters from traveling to the United States. After WHO declared Ebola a public health emergency on 16 May, the United States suspended visa services in Kinshasa and barred non-citizens who recently visited DR Congo, Uganda or South Sudan. Fecofa president Veron Mosengo-Omba argued fans who invested heavily in tickets should not lose their money and urged FIFA to consider refunds in these exceptional circumstances. FIFA says it will review the appeal. DR Congo will face Portugal in Houston on 17 June and looks to make its first World Cup appearance since 1974.
