Why Trust in Government Matters for Nigeria’s Democracy

As Nigeria’s 2023 elections approach, honest political discourse is more important than ever. Truth builds the foundation for citizens to support and cooperate with government. Across our nation, trust has eroded. Politicians break promises. Security agencies fall short. Institutions often lack accountability. Once lost, trust is extremely hard to restore. Leaders can only earn trust by putting people first, being transparent, and valuing feedback. The next administration must empower local governments, deepen participatory democracy, and rebuild faith in our institutions. (Source: Psychology Today)
