Family Trio Arrested in Nairobi Over Online Exploitation of Job Seekers
Detectives from Kenya’s Directorate of Criminal Investigations dismantled a suspected family-run online sexual exploitation ring in Embakasi East, Nairobi. Three suspects were arrested: 43-year-old homeowner Morine Imbaali, her 24-year-old daughter Barbara Okoyo and Barbara’s husband, 30-year-old Alfred Okelo. Officers rescued five women confined in two bedrooms. The victims say they were lured with fake job offers and forced to produce explicit content for commercial gain. Investigators recovered electronic devices and other evidence from the premises. The suspects await charges under the Counter-Trafficking in Persons Act. Arrangements are underway to provide the rescued women with safe shelter, medical care and counselling. The DCI warns job seekers to verify all offers and report suspicious recruiters via its toll-free line or WhatsApp.
