Uganda Confirms Two More Ebola Cases Among Health Workers
Uganda has confirmed two additional Ebola infections, raising the outbreak total to seven since May 15. The new cases involve two health workers at a private clinic in Kampala. Both are now receiving treatment at a specialized centre, while authorities trace anyone who may have had contact with them. The Health Ministry is urging people to report anyone showing Ebola symptoms to the nearest health facility without delay. The outbreak began in the neighbouring country, which remains the epicentre. The World Health Organization has identified over 900 suspected cases in that region. Last week, Uganda halted public transport links with its neighbour after confirming its first case and a related death involving cross-border travellers. Recent infections include a local driver, another health worker and a Congolese woman, underlining the risk of regional spread. Health teams are intensifying surveillance, border screening and awareness campaigns to prevent further escalation.
