Ojudu Slams Ojukwu’s Prison Visit as Onoh Praises Diplomatic Breakthrough
Former presidential aide Babafemi Ojudu has condemned Foreign Affairs Minister Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu’s visit to Nigerian inmates in an Ethiopian prison. He questioned why the minister celebrated with detainees after the signing of a prisoner transfer agreement and warned that the display carried a negative message for law-abiding Nigerians. In response, Josef Onoh defended the minister’s actions as citizen-centred diplomacy. He highlighted that the bilateral agreement paved the way for the repatriation of over 100 Nigerians and described the positive interaction as a natural expression of relief and hope. Onoh argued that prisons serve both punishment and rehabilitation, and that facilitating transfers brings inmates closer to their families and legal processes. He said the Tinubu administration deserves praise for prioritising Nigerian lives under its Renewed Hope foreign policy.
