Shettima Calls for Sustained Military Pressure and Stronger Intelligence in North-East
Vice President Kashim Shettima has urged military commanders to keep up coordinated operations against terrorist groups in the North-East. He emphasized the need to strengthen intelligence, technology and civil-military cooperation to consolidate recent gains. Speaking at the Abuja launch of a two-volume study on counterterrorism and counterinsurgency by retired Maj-Gen Ibrahim Yusuf, Shettima—through the President’s Special Adviser on General Duties—reminded commanders that degrading terrorist capabilities so far is progress, not final victory. He praised the resilience and professionalism of the Armed Forces, stressed a whole-of-society approach and called for continued investment in troop welfare, technology deployment and intelligence gathering. Shettima also paid tribute to those who have served and sacrificed for stabilisation efforts.
