Defence Minister Calls for Local AI, Robotics and Cybersecurity in Security Overhaul
At the Omniverse Africa 3.0 Summit in Lagos, Gen. Christopher Musa urged Nigeria’s innovators, researchers and startups to help strengthen national security with homegrown solutions. He said modern defence can’t rely only on imported kit and outlined plans to update policies, procurement and training to prioritise unmanned systems, robotics, cybersecurity, AI governance, surveillance tools and local manufacturing under the Renewed Hope Agenda. Musa also launched the Defence Futures Lab Pathway, a collaboration platform designed to deepen ties between defence stakeholders and tech firms. Participants will meet again in three months to review progress and align projects with Nigeria’s indigenous security objectives.
