Lagos to Complete Igando and Ipaja Housing Projects Before Sanwo-Olu’s Term Ends

Lagos to Complete Igando and Ipaja Housing Projects Before Sanwo-Olu’s Term Ends

The Lagos Commissioner for Housing has announced that the mixed housing schemes in Egan-Igando and the joint venture project in Ipaja will be delivered before Governor Sanwo-Olu leaves office. During inspections at Egan-Igando, the JV Housing Scheme and the Lagos State Workers’ Village on Command Road, the commissioner urged contractors to speed up work. He noted that electricity, water treatment and sewer systems at Egan-Igando are now in place, and most units are nearly ready. The Ipaja developments include 128 units of two- and three-bedroom apartments plus 176 units at the Workers’ Village. These projects use a mix of direct funding and PPPs to boost affordable housing. Despite rising costs, finishing elements have been adjusted to keep prices within reach of ordinary Lagosians.

How confident are Lagos residents that Egan-Igando and Ipaja housing projects will actually finish before Sanwo-Olu's term wraps up?

I'm with you—fingers crossed those estates will be ready before term's up, it'd be a welcome sight.

It's interesting that the commissioner highlights two major schemes one week before the term ends, given past delays on similar projects.

True, that timing almost feels theatrical. But if it finally sparks progress, let's enjoy the show and hope for results.

So na only Egan-Igando and Ipaja go finish before term end? I doubt they'll beat that deadline without fresh funding or bigger workforce.

Lagos State should share monthly progress reports and involve community reps in site inspections to boost transparency and accountability.
