Healthy Shitta Outreach Brings Free Healthcare to Hundreds in Surulere

The We Are Not Thugs Foundation held its Healthy Shitta Medical Outreach on June 13 in Shitta, Surulere, Lagos. Healthcare professionals, volunteers and community leaders came together to offer free medical consultations, screenings, deworming and medication support to hundreds of residents. Attendees also received therapy and counselling sessions, sanitary pad distribution and health education on preventive care and substance use disorders. The event aimed to meet immediate health needs and encourage healthier lifestyles. Prominent practitioners like Bearded Dr. Sina and the Aproko Doctor joined nurses and counsellors to deliver care. Founder Rector Pascal emphasised that a healthy community underpins personal and collective progress. Beneficiaries praised the outreach for providing quality services at their doorstep. The foundation reaffirmed its commitment to community-based healthcare, rehabilitation and youth development across Lagos.

Free outreach days sound helpful, but I question how sustainable such events are without ongoing funding or reliable volunteer turnout.

To ensure long-term benefits, they could partner with local clinics for regular follow-ups and build a simple database to track patient progress over time.
