IAUE’s 44th Convocation Lecture Calls for Tertiary Education Reform
On May 6, 2026, Ignatius Ajuru University of Education hosted the second day of its 44th convocation ceremonies with a keynote lecture by Prof. Nlerum S. Okogbule. Academics, industry leaders, administrators and entrepreneurs gathered at the main auditorium as he spoke on “Restructuring Tertiary Education for Sustainable National Development.” Prof. Okogbule examined the strengths and weaknesses of Nigeria’s higher-education system and urged a full structural overhaul, increased funding and transparent recruitment processes. He also commended the university’s leadership for recent infrastructure and academic improvements. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Okechukwu Onuchukwu wrapped up the event by highlighting tertiary education’s role in nation-building. Awards were conferred on former contributors and outstanding staff, and the ceremony closed with a prayer and the national anthem.
