Katsina Governor Warns of Moles Leaking Security Plans to Bandits
Katsina State governor Dikko Radda has raised alarm over residents and insiders secretly aiding bandits by leaking sensitive security information. He revealed that criminals often know government plans within minutes, undermining operations and enabling ambushes. The governor identified a notorious bandit leader named Muhammad, who benefits from informants embedded in communities and even among security personnel. He said informants tip off the gang’s leader as soon as troops mobilise, while bandits also stage demonstrations to sway public opinion against the government. Despite these challenges, Radda noted that the security situation has improved since he took office. He said only two of the state’s local governments now face serious attacks, down from 24 previously under siege. The government is also exploring the use of drone technology to strengthen response efforts.
