FG Cracks Down on LPG Hoarding: EFCC, DSS and Police in Emergency Talks
The Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources has convened an urgent stakeholders’ meeting with the EFCC, DSS, police and industry players to tackle ongoing LPG hoarding and diversion to neighbouring countries. Officials from the NMDPRA, led by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, stressed that rising cooking gas prices are straining household budgets and inflating costs of essential goods. The meeting brought together regulators, producers, marketers and terminal operators to identify bottlenecks and agree on practical interventions. Key measures include intensified market monitoring, expanded storage and distribution infrastructure, increased domestic production and transparent pricing mechanisms. Recent data shows national LPG supply sufficiency doubled from 11 to 22 days, with daily output rising from 4,262 to 5,040 metric tonnes.
