Sanwo-Olu, UNDP and EU Launch NJFP 2.0 to Boost Youth Employment
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has urged stronger collaboration with the UNDP, EU and private sector to curb youth unemployment in Nigeria. The call came at the NJFP 2.0 Employers’ Forum in Lagos, where stakeholders explored ways to bridge the gap between tertiary education and the labour market. Funded by the European Union and implemented by UNDP, the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme gives young graduates workplace experience and mentorship. Sanwo-Olu, represented by the Lagos State Civil Service Commission chair, praised employers for hosting fellows and investing in the country’s human capital. EU representative Inga Stefanowicz highlighted the programme’s impact on equipping graduates with practical skills. UNDP official Elsie Attafuah stressed that sustained public, private and development partner collaboration is key to driving inclusive economic growth. The forum also offered a platform to deepen engagement on reducing unemployment. Participants across sectors committed to expand placements and support innovation, entrepreneurship and skills acquisition.
