FG Begins ₦1.245 Trillion Reconstruction and Dualisation of Gombe–Biu Highway
The federal government has launched the reconstruction and dualisation of the 139-kilometre Gombe–Biu highway. The project is valued at ₦1.245 trillion. Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya and Works Minister David Umahi flagged off the ceremony at Liji in Gombe State. The scope was extended from 125 km to 139 km to route the road through the Northern Bypass. Hi-Tech Construction Company will use rigid pavement technology. Officials say the upgrade will boost trade, transport and regional connectivity across the Northeast. Built in 1962 and last resurfaced in 1976, this corridor links northeastern Nigeria with neighbouring regions. The state government has pledged to work with federal authorities to ensure timely completion.
