INEC’s 48-Hour Window to Request an Election Results Review Explained

INEC’s 48-Hour Window to Request an Election Results Review Explained

According to Clause 104 of INEC’s Regulations and Guidelines for the Conduct of Elections 2026, candidates have 48 hours from the declaration of results to request a formal review. They must submit a written report to the INEC chairman within two days of the final results. The report should include specific evidence showing any breach of the Electoral Act 2026. Once the chairman receives the report, an emergency Executive Session of the commission must be convened within 24 hours to consider the review before any petition reaches the election tribunal.
