Obaje Prioritises Rangers’ Title Push Over Golden Boot
Rangers International striker Godwin Obaje says winning the NPFL title is more important than claiming another Hot-Shot award. He told Completesports in an exclusive interview that his focus remains on securing the club’s ninth league crown rather than personal scoring accolades. Obaje is tied with Ikorodu City’s Joseph Arumala on 11 goals in the race for this season’s top scorer. Rangers top the NPFL table on goal difference with five games left, and Obaje believes a title triumph would be more rewarding than a second Golden Boot. “That award is nice,” Obaje said, “but lifting the league trophy and earning Rangers a spot in the CAF Champions League means more to me.” He adds that team success always comes first, even as other strikers like Victor Mbaoma and Uche Collins close in on the scoring chart.
