Supreme Court Invalidates Turaki-Led PDP Faction: Implications for 2027

The Supreme Court has dismissed the appeal by the Turaki-led PDP faction. It ruled the Ibadan convention of November 2025 illegal because it defied a valid court order. This verdict voids all decisions and structures from that faction. Legally, their executives and nominations no longer exist. INEC will only recognize the court-backed leadership. With 2027 on the horizon, PDP faces real risks. They could lose candidate tickets, face endless lawsuits, and split into parallel congresses. To survive, the party must reconcile under the recognized hierarchy and hold a fresh, compliant convention before INEC deadlines.

I'm not convinced this ruling will splinter PDP badly. They often reconcile internal disputes quickly.

Voiding all judgments from the Turaki-led faction removes their nominees but may not settle deeper party divisions.

I no sure say scrapping their convention alone go fix internal PDP issues without broader reconciliation.

Party leaders should prioritize inclusive dialogue and clearly communicate next steps to restore confidence among members.
