NRC to Suspend Kajola–Apapa Passenger Service for Three Weeks

NRC to Suspend Kajola–Apapa Passenger Service for Three Weeks

The Nigerian Railway Corporation will halt its Kajola–Apapa passenger train service from July 6 to July 27 for essential maintenance on locomotives and coaches. Freight services to and from Apapa Port Complex and other terminals will continue as normal. The last passenger trip departs on July 3 before the break. Commuters can still use the Lagos Mass Transit Train on weekdays. Morning trains leave Ijoko at 6:30 a.m. and Kajola at 7:00 a.m. for Iddo. Return services depart Iddo at 5:30 p.m. for Ijoko and 6:15 p.m. for Kajola. The NRC apologises for any inconvenience and thanks passengers for their patience as it works to ensure safer, more reliable service.

How will this three-week suspension of Kajola–Apapa service affect your travel plans or alternative arrangements?

True talk. I'll need to book a longer bus route or adjust my dates to avoid the gap.

It's interesting that freight services continue uninterrupted while passengers bear the full brunt of maintenance delays.

I'm not convinced three weeks is necessary for basic locomotive upkeep; maybe they should stagger maintenance instead of full suspension.

Commuters might consider booking bus services early or arranging carpools to reduce disruption during the rail service pause.
