Nigeria’s Favour Ashe Reinstated After False Start Protest at African Championships
Nigeria successfully overturned Favour Ashe’s disqualification in the men’s 100m at the African Athletics Championships in Accra. Ashe had been disqualified for a false start, following repeated malfunctions of the starting gun during his heat. Organisers upheld Nigeria’s protest and granted Ashe a solo rerun later this evening to determine if he moves on to the semi-finals. Also on Tuesday, Esther Okon finished second in her women’s 400m heat to advance, while Sikiru Adeyemi placed third in his 400m heat.
